Inspiration of Kolah Boat 2006
I made a collection of mixed material painting “Inspiration of Kolae Boat”. I wanted to present the beauty of the pattern on the boat which is a unique identity of the local Malay Pattani. The work consisted of general patterns I see on the boat, a transportation of the local fishermen. The boat is a folk wisdom that the villagers paid careful attention in the making process which simply reflects how valuable the craft is to them. The idea of the Kolae boat inspired me to create the collection in my own interpretation. I created mixed-media pieces focusing on the aesthetics of the form, pattern, and color of the boat in order to learn more about the origin of its colors and pattern, including research and experiment to search for a direction in my work.
